The State Of Play So Far (Chris)

Hopefully the way this will work is each of us will be posting individually, with the exception of when we play in big tourneys together. Chase and Stefano will publish soon after we sort out some technical details!

Many years ago, after watching a bit of ‘Late Night Poker‘ on Channel 4, I tried playing Texas Hold-Em with friends. It was fun, never really took it seriously. About 5 years ago I moved to Edinburgh and met a few guys who had the same sort of interest in poker as I did and we started a weekly £5 game where we just messed about and had some beers etc.

Through that game I met Stefano, and about a year ago we started playing in a private £10 rebuy with some lads at a local casino, which i have done pretty well in. I am pretty sure I have made money at that game!

At the Circus Casino there is a 6 max on a Wednesday night which I play in £10 plus 2x £10 rebuys, i have won this twice (about £400 then £500) so I am up in that game also and have qualified for a £1000 free-roll due the the league system they employ (which happens wednesday 31st)

This is my first ever table in my first ever major tournament, the UKIPT Edinburgh leg!

And what a tough table it is, that’s me in the orange t-shirt, the guy to my right is poker legend Neil Channing, 2 to my left is 2 time UKIPT champion Nick Abou Risk and the man to the right of the dealer is Jessie May, poker commentator and ex pro.

Even though it was my first major tournament, I did not feel uncomfortable or out of place, I did make it to day 2, came about 110 out of about 530.

The experience of playing in the UKIPT has given me confidence for playing in other big tournaments and has inspired myself and Stefano and Chase to chronicle our poker experiences up to now and into the future.

We intend to blog about tournaments upcoming, hopefully including pictures, videos and any other types of media we can get our hands on, there will be a page set up for discussions about specific poker hands.

Thank you for reading and hopefully we can provide some interest and entertaiment.
